SCAN Health Plan to Conduct “The Art of Referrals” Seminar at Orange County Association of Health Underwriters Senior Summit, August 8-9

(LONG BEACH, Calif. – June 2, 2016) — In an effort to help health insurance brokers maximize the value of referrals in a highly competitive industry, SCAN Health Plan will present a seminar on “The Art of Referrals” at the Orange County Association of Health Underwriters Senior Summit, August 8-9.The seminar is designed for brokers who sell Medicare Advantage (MA) health plans. Currently nearly one in three (31 percent) of Medicare beneficiaries nationwide are enrolled in such plans that offer all of the traditional benefits of Medicare plus additional value-added features, which differ by plan.

Many brokers are quickly adding MA plans to their portfolio given their rise in attractiveness coupled with the aging of baby boomers into the Medicare space. “As one of the early pioneers in the Medicare Advantage space and now one of the country’s largest not-for-profit MA plans, we feel a special accountability to make sure that all brokers who sell MA plans do so in a manner that is respectful, professional and in full compliance with CMS standards,” said David Milligan, SCAN’s senior vice president of sales. “We also want to provide brokers with tools that will help them continually grow their book of business. This session on the art of referrals does both, and we encourage all brokers to attend.”

The seminar is based on a series of modules created by SCAN and is designed to provide brokers with the tools they need to develop a “referral mindset” and bring value to clients every day. Attendees will also get tips on how to prospect for referrals while learning the benefits of networking and niche marketing. After attending the session at the OCAHU Summit, brokers can then avail themselves of more in-depth seminars and training offered throughout the year by SCAN.
