Using Your OTC Benefit
With your SCAN over-the-counter benefit, you have more flexibility to buy how and when you want. You can pick up items while you run errands or have them delivered right to your door. It’s up to you.
Ordering in-store is easy with your OTC card. You can use the card to buy items just like using a credit card. Depending on your plan, your card balance will be refilled either monthly or quarterly. You’ll use this card for all your purchases and there’s no limit to the number of items you buy or orders you place each allowance period.

Shop OTC at retailers
Use your SCAN OTC card at more than 7,000 CVS Pharmacy stores nationwide. At the store, check out like you would regularly, using your SCAN OTC card like any other credit card.

The OTC Health Solutions App®
Get the most out of your benefit with the mobile app. Simply download the OTC Health Solutions (OTCHS) app to get started. It’s available on the App Store® for Apple® devices or on the Google Play™ store for Android® devices.
With the app you can:
- Scan and view the items offered
- Process an order
- Review past orders
- See account information
Place up to two orders per quarter (every three months) either by ordering online, over-the-phone or by mail. How much you have to spend each quarter depends on your individual plan; check your Evidence of Coverage to see how much your OTC allowance is.
Using the benefit is easy: Choose the products that you want, place your order and a package is delivered directly to your door within seven to 10 business days.
Spend your entire allowance in one order or break it up in to two orders throughout the quarter.
Important: Your quarterly allowance expires each quarter even if you haven’t used it all. At the beginning of each quarter, your allowance will be reset to your quarterly spending limit.
