15 Medical Groups are Recognized for Delivering High Quality Care to Older Adults
LONG BEACH, Calif., June 30, 2021—SCAN Health Plan®, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, is proud to announce the top performing medical groups in its California provider network. The medical groups recognized are the top 15 performers for care and service based on SCAN’s internal quality metrics.
“The past year has posed extreme challenges for our members, the healthcare industry and its workers at large,” said Sherry Stanislaw, general manager and officer at SCAN. “We are extremely proud of our provider partners who have nonetheless continually provided our members with outstanding service and care, and we are honored to give them the recognition they rightfully deserve.”
This year, SCAN is recognizing the following 15 medical groups for their dedication to providing the highest quality of care and service, according to SCAN’s internal quality metrics:
- Facey Medical Foundation
- Greater Newport Physicians
- MemorialCare Medical Foundation
- Monarch Healthcare Optum
- Optum
- Riverside Medical Clinic
- Scripps Health Plan Services, Inc.
- Joseph Heritage Healthcare
- Torrance Memorial IPA
- UCLA Medical Group
- Primary Care Associates Medical Group
- Serra Medical Group
- Axminster Medical Group
- PIH Health Physicians
- Saint John’s Physician Partners
“We are extremely grateful to SCAN for honoring us as one of their top-performing medical groups in its California network,” said Michelle Best, executive director of Quality Improvement at Providence St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare. “Together in partnership with SCAN, our providers, operations, pharmacy and quality teams, we have worked hard over this past year to close patient care gaps and provide excellent care to all of our patients, and we’re happy to have those efforts recognized.”
SCAN’s internal quality metrics focus on preventive screenings, treatment of chronic conditions, and appropriate documentation to ensure members get the care they need to remain healthy and independent. These metrics are similar to those used by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) in its Star Rating System, which weighs factors including clinical outcomes, coordination of care and consumer satisfaction when determining a star rating for each Medicare Advantage plan in the nation.
