What can I spend my allowance on?
Choose from over 10,000 OTC items at CVS Pharmacy locations. Here are some examples of the categories covered:
- Cough syrup
- Antacids
- Sunscreen
- Vitamins
- Body wash
- Bandages
- and so much more!

How do I know if a specific item is covered?
When you’re in the store—Take advantage of in-store specials and more items to choose from when you use your SCAN OTC card to shop at a CVS Pharmacy location (except locations inside Target stores).
One of the easiest ways to find if an in-store item is eligible is to look for the blue “OTCH Eligible” sticker on the shelf near the item.
When you’re at home—You can use your allowance to buy items in the SCAN OTC catalog mailed to you. Go to our OTC catalog page to find yours. You can place orders online or by calling 1-844-428-8135 (TTY: 711). Important to know: Online and phone orders can’t be cancelled or returned.
Is There an App I Can Use?
Yes! The app is a great way to manage your benefit from anywhere. Use it on your phone or tablet to:
- Find the nearest store locations
- Check out in-store with a digital barcode
- Check your balance and review past purchases
How to get it: Download CVS OTC Health Solutions from the App Store if you have an Apple iOS device or from the Google Play store if you’re using an Android device. Find links to both on the SCAN Benefit Apps page.

*Eligibility for grocery benefit is not based solely on chronic conditions. All applicable eligibility requirements must be met before the benefit is provided. Qualifying chronic condition(s) required to be eligible for the Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) benefit include cardiovascular disorders, chronic heart failure, diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disorders. Other chronic conditions may apply. Medical records will be used to establish qualifications for the benefit.
