(LONG BEACH, Calif. – October 21, 2016) — Bill Roth, president of SCAN Health Plan, will be among the featured speakers at America’s Health Insurance Plans’ (AHIP) National Conference on Medicare, Medicaid and Duals October 25-27 in Washington, D.C. Roth will share a panel with three other senior level executives to discuss how each organization has tailored its care model to effectively serve those who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid/Medi-Cal.
Termed “dual eligibles,” these members present health plans and policy makers with unique challenges due to their wide range of care and service needs. SCAN has a long history of serving duals and currently offers a Special Needs Plan designed expressly for this population. Among the unique value-added services these members receive through SCAN is their own Personal Assistance Line (PAL) specialist, a service representative specially trained and available to answer questions and help members get the care and support they need, when they need it.
“Dual eligibles are among the most vulnerable of our fellow citizens and historically among the highest utilizers of healthcare services,” says Roth. “Over our 40 year history, SCAN has worked to build the programs and expertise required to support the dually eligible and actively promote a thoughtful public policy discussion to how to best address their needs.”
Roth joined SCAN in 2011 as chief operating officer and was promoted to president in 2015. In addition to his wide responsibilities at SCAN, Roth brings to his AHIP presentation more than 20 years of managed care experience, holding senior executive positions at CIGNA HealthCare in Connecticut, Aetna, Blue Cross of California and WellPoint. Roth earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Indiana University.
