WHAT DENTAL COVERAGE DO YOU HAVE?
SCAN Dental HMO
The Dental HMO (DHMO) is the most common plan type we offer. DHMOs offer low, predictable copays and your coverage lasts all year long.
If you have a DHMO plan, you must get all your dental services from your assigned dentist. If you don’t choose a dentist when you first enroll, Delta Dental will assign one to you. Just as you can change your primary care doctor at any time, you can also change your assigned dentist at any time and will choose a dentist from the DeltaCare USA network.
Your Dental HMO coverage will vary depending on your SCAN plan. Some plans include DHMO coverage; others give you the option to add coverage for an additional monthly premium.
SCAN Optional PPO Buy-Up
If you added the PPO coverage, you can choose any dentist from Delta Dental Medicare Advantage PPO/SCAN EPO network. Staying in-network provides the best coverage; if you choose to go out of network, you have a 50% coinsurance for services.
SCAN Dental Allowance
With a Dental Allowance plan, you have a set amount—an allowance—to spend on dental care this year. You pay $0 for all care up to your allowance amount. Once you reach your allowance, you’ll then pay the full cost of any other dental care for the year. With this plan, you can see any dentist from the Delta Dental Medicare Advantage PPO/SCAN EPO network.
