Johana’s fascination with physiology and medicine started early. “Realizing there are interventions to treat or even cure ailments sent me on a path to become a physician,” she says. This journey allowed her to experience the multifaceted aspects of serving others and understand that each patient deserves a care plan addressing their unique needs.
Johana is inspired by a career where every team member is eager to make a difference and find solutions to improve lives. “Going the extra mile in caring for older adults can make the difference between living and having quality of life,” she explains. She takes pride in providing care she would want for her loved ones, aiming to create excellence in healthcare for SCAN members.
Her favorite quote from Maya Angelou resonates deeply with her: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
Outside of work, Johana enjoys spending time with her family and trying new recipes together.
Johana received a B.S. in Biology-Physiology/Chemistry from Cal State University, Long Beach, a medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, a master’s in business administration from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA, and completed her internal medicine residency at UCLA-Olive View Internal Medicine Resident Program.
